Private McGee was killed instantly when Engine 6, answering a false alarm, slammed into the back of a streetcar at 19th & Portland at 4:30 A.M.
Captain Lee Paul and Private Lee McGee also subsequently died from injuries sustained in the crash. This was the second fatal collision of a motorized vehicle in the history of the Department.
