Firefighter Jerry Poole and Firefighter Raymond Moore were responding to a grass fire when the engine they were riding on was struck by an automobile at State Street and Pleasant Run Parkway. The truck overturned killing Firefighter Moore instantly. Firefighter Poole died from his injuries the next day.
Both firefighters worked out of Station #3 in Fountain Square.

No words can express the pride and love I have come to have for my Dad. I lost him at a time when I was
learning how to appreciate the man he was to me and those he touched. I wished that he and I could have
had more time... his Grandchildren have learned the man he was through my eyes, my heart and my memories.
I love you always Dad!
