Incident

Pilot Jones, along with three other crew members, died when their helicopter ambulance crashed in dense fog into a rural mountainside. They were heading home after a quiet day.

Jones was a pilot for Petroleum Helicopters, Incorporated since 1984. He served in the U. S. Army as a helicopter pilot. He earned the rank of captain with overseas service in Vietnam and served as a rotary wing section commander for the Iowa National Guard. Jones attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida, receiving his Bachelor's Degree in Aeronautics.
