Ralph L. Croxton had been in the U.S. Navy and also had been a School Teacher in Indiana for a brief time before joining the Louisville Police Department.

At the time of Ralph's death, his oldest son, Dale Eugene Croxton was just 13.5 months old and Ralph's wife Opal was pregnant with his second son, Ralph J. Croxton. His second son, Ralph J. Croxton was born August 3, 1924, only four months after his father was murdered on the streets of Louisville.

Ralph's death caused a lot of grief in his family for decades. His grandson, Patrick Croxton is the spitting image of Ralph. Ralph's grandson, Patrick wishes he could have known Ralph, and I wish I had met him too.

I have four police officers in my own family; my brother has been the Town Marshal in Oolitic, IN for thirty-six years and every day I pray for his safety. Ralph's dedication to protect and serve others will never be forgotten.
