"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth

And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth

or sun-split clouds, -- and done a hundred things

You have not dreamed of --wheeled and soared and swung

High in the sunlit silence. Hov-ring there,

I've chased the shouting wind along,

and flung

My eager craft through footless halls of air...

Up, up the long, delirious burning blue

I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace

Where never lark, or eagle ever flew --

And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod

The high untrespassed sanctity of space,

Put out my hand, and touched the face of God."

--John Gillespie Magee, Jr.

God be with you, your fallen brothers, and your family.

Lee,

I can clearly remember the days that you were experiencing both career paths, EMS work and law enforcement. I recall the nights riding around on patrol with you in my passenger seat. You were always a dedicated public servant with such a caring heart. You always had a unique way of putting a smile on anyone's face, who you came into contact with. You had truly found your professional calling, and it's tragic that it had to end so soon. With that said, you left a legacy my friend. You made the ultimate sacrifice while caring for others, and that my friend, makes you a hero. You will be truly missed by all of us here in Hawkins County. Now, you can utilize your wings to keep a watchful eye on the rest of us from the Heavens above. Although your wife and children have temporarily lost a wonderful husband and father, rest in peace knowing we are right here for whatever they may need. Emilee, may God hold you and the children in his loving hands and tend to each of your grieving hearts. I pray you find comfort in knowing Lee loves each of you with all his being, and that this is only temporary. He is waiting at Heaven's gates for you and the kids, where you all will once again be joined together for eternity. Emilee, please feel free to call on me or any of us for anything. We will be right here for you and the kids.

Thursday night June 6, 2013 was by far one of the hardest nights in my almost 20 year EMS career. I have responded to many bad things over the years, but this is the worst. I lost two men that I have worked with closely over the years in Lee and Eddy. I know Jessie but no t as well as Lee and Eddy. You three men gace the ultimate sacrifice. You did a good deed for another person, and in returning to your home base, you ended up making the final trip home. Bless you three heroes for your bravery and sacrifice for others, so they may live. We will miss each of your everyday. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of these heroes. They have taught us all a great lesson. R.I.P. gentlemen, we have the watch now.

Praying for the family and community as they grieve the death of this fine man. His witness and service will be remembered. May God give his family strength in these days of grief and comfort as they hold each other tight. May the children hear the stories of thier dad and celebrate his life, remembering his sacrifice and service. I pray that this man's life will call others to faithful service and tender hearts to care for those hurting around us. I give thanks for his life and pray that the Spirit will bring comfort and assurance that this man did not die in vain--for his is a witness to the good, kind and caring in this world. May we find comfort in knowing that there is a life greater than this world can contain and he has been welcomed home.

Lee was an old friend and co-worker, always helpful and a big cut up. I'll never forget how he would sit in the bay and tie flies between calls. He will be greatly missed and taken too early. Godspeed my friend

Lee was my brother-in-law. He was a great man and a good father. It is a terrible loss for our family, especially my sister Emilee and my nephews Jordan, Hayden, and little Walker. It hurts my heart to know that they wont see him until the Lord takes us home. Lee is soaring with the angles now. R.I.P. Lee! you will be missed!
