Incident
Fireman McNamara was killed fighting one of Valparaiso, Indiana's largest fires. It involved the Academy of Music Block and the Kauffman clothing store. He and Volunteer Fireman Robert Bartholomew of Valparaiso Fire Department were killed when a wall fell over on top of the Kauffman building. At least 10 other firemen from Gary and Valparaiso were injured.
