Incident
While responding to a natural gas explosion, Officer Jones’ police car collided with Fire Chief Zenis Nicosen’s car at 19th and Washington Streets. Officer Jones was taken to St. Anthony’s Hospital where he later died. Fire Captain Richard Gray also died in the accident and Chief Nichoson as well as Patrolman Walter Thompson were injured.
