Patrolman Dunn was walking his beat when he was ambushed while checking on a business. A man walked around a corner and shot him in the chest four times. The suspect was caught in Chicago due to a hotel clerk who remembered him staying at a Hammond hotel until the day Patrolman Dunn was shot.
