Incident
Patrolman Byrnes was shot and killed while attempting to make an arrest at a local tavern.
He and several other officers were attempting to clear a corner of loitering men, when one of the men in the crowd fired several shots killing Patrolman Byrnes.

The Louisville Division of Police has been disbanded and absorbed by the Louisville Metro Police Department.
