Incident

Patrolman Jones and Patrolman Rosenberg were killed at a house on Lafayette Street investigating an assault in progress. Both officers were later discovered to have been fatally stabbed in the head.

.Charles Dilger was arrested and convicted. On July 31, 1889, he was executed by hanging for the murders.
