Sheriff Roy Conway

Sheriff Conway received a call at home from an anonymous informant wanting to meet to give him information. As Sheriff Conway exited his house and was getting into his car, he was shot from a distance by two brothers whose father's drinking establishment had been raided earlier.

Sheriff Conway's wife and daughters were outside the house and witnessed the assassination.

Sheriff Conway had been elected to office only six months earlier on a platform of promising to clean up gambling, bootlegging and corruption in his county.

Sheriff Conway's wife was appointed to complete his term.
