While responding to a reported fire in his personal vehicle, Firefighter Hollon's vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a tree. He died at the scene on his 23rd birthday. Deputy Sheriff Gene Hollon, Firefighter Hollon's father, made the response to the accident unaware that the victim was his son.
