Donnie was always nice to me as an import to the Burlington area in 1978 until we moved in 1985. I met him before the fire district was formed when he came to our door collecting fire department dues and he struck me as very friendly. I joined the fire department and was always treated well by him. I still remember him frequently as I'm sure many of us do.
