Captain Keller died on December 26, 1921 as a result of injuries suffered while fighting a fire at the F.W. Woolworth Co. on March 19, 1921.
Captain Keller was assigned to Hook and Ladder 3. He was overcome three times by gas and smoke while fighting the fire, which injured several other firefighters.
