Deputy Gabriel Ramirez was shot and killed during a traffic stop at approximately 4:00 p.m. on Monday afternoon. The suspect fled, and a manhunt began.
Early the following morning, a helicopter crew detected a heat signature and directed ground units to the suspect’s location.
As officers called out to the suspect and advised that he was surrounded, the suspect opened fire. Deputy Hislope was shot and killed, and two other deputies were wounded.
The suspect was also killed.
Deputy Hislope was a U.S. Army veteran.
