His wife and two young children
After responding to a critical incident in 2018—in which three young siblings died and another child was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle while boarding a school bus—Paramedic Amos began showing signs of lasting emotional trauma. In the years that followed, he shared concerns with family members and coworkers, reached out for help, and at one point underwent inpatient treatment. Additional critical incidents involving pediatric patients compounded the burden he was carrying.
Tragically, Paramedic Amos died after a long struggle with the effects of service-related trauma, including post-traumatic stress.
