Officer Henry Franklin

Mississippi County law enforcement officers were called to a residence at approximately 2:30 p.m. regarding a missing person.

When officers arrived, they found a deceased person and received information that an individual was barricaded in the home. Additional officers and a tactical team were summoned. As the backup arrived, shots were fired, and Officer Franklin, a member of the Tactical Team, was struck and killed. After hours of negotiation, SWAT officers entered the home and found the suspect deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

In addition to his service with the Sikeston Department of Public Safety, Office Franklin had previously served in the Army National Guard.
