Lieutenant Hatt sustained critical injuries in a single-vehicle apparatus rollover while responding to a tractor-trailer fire. He passed away four days later.
Firefighter Leonard Winkler also sustained serious injuries in the crash, though they were not life-threatening.
Lieutenant Hatt retired from the U.S. Army.
