Sergeant Ryan Hudson

Shortly after 3:00 a.m., during the city's annual Emancipation Day celebration, Sergeant Hudson and fellow officers responded to reports of a shooting at a bar on the city’s west side.

Upon arrival, they encountered an extremely chaotic and volatile scene. Three women had been shot—two of them critically—and multiple shooters were involved. One of the shooting victims, an 18-year-old female, died a few days later.

Following the incident, Sergeant Hudson began to feel unwell. As his condition worsened over the next several hours, he sought medical attention and was admitted to the hospital.

Tragically, he passed away two days later due to a cardiac event suffered in the aftermath of the shooting.
