Ridgeville firefighters were dispatched to a residential fire just after midnight. Firefighters responded to the station, donned their gear, and then responded to the scene in apparatuses.
As Assistant Chief Caylor prepared to respond from the station, he collapsed on the engine bay floor from an apparent heart attack.
He was found deceased as firefighters returned from the call hours later.
