Incident

Game Warden Recruit Bailey collapsed from an apparent heart attack while engaging in very intense, stressful, and strenuous physical exercise during academy training. Immediate aid was rendered, including CPR, and he was transported to an area hospital.

After exhaustive efforts to resuscitate, he was pronounced deceased. The incident occurred at a training facility in Barren County.

Recruit Bailey was a recent graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, where he played football all four years. He was a native of Huntsville, Alabama.

NOTE: While Recruit Bailey was not yet a sworn law enforcement officer, Supporting Heroes recognizes the dangers involved in training to perform the very dangerous duties of a first responder. The federal government applies a similar standard regarding line-of-duty death benefits.
