Paramedic Michael Clarke

When he did not respond to the ambulance when dispatched on a 911 call, Paramedic Clarke's partner found him unresponsive in one of the station's bedrooms. His partner and other paramedics immediately initiated CPR and other lifesaving measures, which were continued at Barnes St. Peters Hospital following transport. Despite their efforts, he did not survive.

Paramedic Clarke had responded to several emergency calls while working a 48-hour shift, including multiple that occurred within the 24-hour period before his medical event.

He was 27 years old and joined the Saint Charles County Ambulance District team in November 2022.

A few months before his death, Paramedic Clarke and two colleagues were recognized by a patient and the Ambulance District's Board of Directors for their lifesaving efforts when the patient went into cardiac arrest.
