Corporal Dixon responded on an emergency basis to a report of a person in cardiac arrest. While on the scene, he told others that he wasn't feeling well and was having shoulder pain, as he gestured toward his chest. He worked the following day but minimized his activities as the symptoms persisted.
Corporal Dixon died from an apparent heart attack sometime after arriving home that evening.
He had served with the Stoddard County Sheriff's Office for four years. He previously served with the Maden and Dexter Police Departments and had a total of 22 years in law enforcement.
