Sergeant Vickers died after a battle with occupational cancer.
Sergeant Vickers retired from Okolona Fire Protection District after 30 years of service before joining Zoneton Fire where he served an additional seven.
He also served the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office as a reserve deputy and member of their motorcycle unit.
