Officer James Muhlbauer

While Officer Muhlbauer was on routine patrol, his vehicle was broadsided in an intersection by another vehicle that ran a red light while traveling at an extremely high rate of speed. The crash occurred at approximately 10:15 p.m. near the intersection of Truman Road and Benton Blvd. The patrol vehicle then struck a pedestrian.

Officer Muhlbauer was transported to the hospital, where he died later that night. The pedestrian, as well as Officer Muhlbauer's K-9 partner Champ, died at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries.
