Fireman Cooper was found lying on the floor behind a pumper around 12:10 p.m. at the Central Fire Station on West Fourth Street. He died of an apparent heart attack and had been dead for approximately 30 minutes when he was found.
Fireman Cooper joined the department on August 9, 1920, and was the tenth most senior member of the department.
