Deputy James Jerry Critchelow

While directing traffic during morning school traffic, Deputy Critchelow began to experience symptoms of a heart attack. He then drove himself to a medical facility for treatment. As treatment progressed, Deputy Critchelow's condition deteriorated until he suffered cardiac arrest. He was airlifted to another facility for more advanced care, where he remained until his death days later.

Deputy Critchelow served with the Kentucky State Police for 27 years before retiring in 2008. He then joined the Ohio County Sheriff's Office.
