Firefighter Benjamin Polson

Firefighters were called to the scene of a structural fire in the 5900 block of Cote Brillante at around noon (Central).

After knocking down the fire on the first floor, they made their way to the second floor. However, the fire got too intense and firefighters decided to back out. As they did, the roof collapsed and buried Firefighter Polson and another firefighter "under a tremendous amount of debris."

Firefighter Polson was killed from injuries sustained in the collapse. The second firefighter received non-life-threatening injuries.
