Officers Brooks died from complications of COVID-19 contracted in the line-of-duty.
He had retired from the Department of Corrections and then returned as a part-time employee. His wife was also a state corrections officer at the time of his death.
Officer Brooks was a U.S. Army veteran and reservist.
