Incident

On March 28th at 7:54 p.m. LMPD received multiple calls about a domestic dispute that led to shots fired near the intersection of 26th and Madison streets. A woman then called and stated she was the victim and had been assaulted by the father of her child.

LMPD 1st Division officers responded to the scene and were able to obtain a description of the suspect and his vehicle. Officers located the suspect in his vehicle near the intersection of 22nd and Madison streets and attempted to pull him over. The suspect refused to stop and led officers on a high-speed pursuit northbound on 22nd Street into the Portland neighborhood.

Officer Rodman was traveling westbound on Duncan Street with his lights and sirens on, attempting to make a left turn onto 26th Street when the suspect struck his cruiser at a high rate of speed, severely damaging both vehicles and causing Officer Rodman's cruiser to catch fire. Officer Rodman was extricated from his vehicle by other officers, placed in another officer's patrol car and rushed to the hospital.

Officer Rodman succumbed to his inuries at 3:40 p.m. the following day.

I am so sorry for your loss.  I will keep the Rodman family in my prayers, along with Officer Rodman's brothers and sisters in blue.  Thank you for your brave service, Officer Rodman.  Rest In Peace.  You will not be forgotten....heroes never are.
