Incident

While at a stable fire of Edward Goeke of 1222 East Illinois Street, Firefighter Clay suffered a fall. As the hose was being reeled up, Clay's feet became entangled and he was thrown to the street curb striking his head. He was able to get to his feet and walk a short distance before collapsing again. Clay had refused to order a new uniform due to having a premonition of his death. He feared that he would not get to wear the uniform. Firefighter Clay had only been appointed to the department two weeks prior to his death.
