His wife and two children
Firefighter Goodhue and other members of Hook & Ladder 1 had just worked a fire at Fourth and Walnut Streets at around 11:30 p.m. Upon returning to the station, Firefighter Goodhue retired to his bunk shortly after midnight. When Firefighter Goodhue failed to respond to an alarm at 6:00 a.m., another firefighter went to check on him finding him dead in his bunk of an apparent heart attack.
Firefighter Goodhue had been a member of the KCPD for several years and had transferred to the fire department only 8 months earlier.
