Incident

While responding to an alarm in Hook & Ladder #8, Captain Letson was severely injured when the truck collided with a street car at the intersection of Olive Street and Twentieth Avenue. Captain Letson was pinned between the truck and a telegraph pole. He died two days later. Firefighter Fred Hesse also died in the accident.
