Incident
Firefighter Kaltenthaler was standing on the rear platform of Engine #11 which was responding to an alarm. While going down Victor Street, one of the horses slipped at a crossing. The engine ran against the curbstone causing it to flip, landing on Firefighter Kaltenthaler. He was taken back to the fire station at Barton and Easton Streets where he died a short time later.
