Incident
While responding to an alarm, Firefighter O'Gorman was standing on a footboard on Engine #7. As they were driving down Chouteau Avenue, the engine collided with a malt truck. Firefighter O'Gorman was thrown between the wheel and the boiler. He suffered severe burns when a steam pipe on the boiler burst. He died several hours later.
