Incident

Patrolman Hall and Chief of Detectives Thomas Johnson were killed during a gunfight with a robbery suspect who had barricaded himself in his home. Police Chief Clay McDonald and Detective Edward Eads were also wounded in the battle.

After the shootout, the fire department set fire to the house in an effort to force the suspect out. When the suspect appeared in the second floor window with a handgun, he was shot and killed by an officer with a rifle.
