While assigned to the fire plug at the scene of a fire, a hose slipped and the brass coupling struck Firefighter Haney in the leg, breaking his kneecap. He was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital where blood poisoning set in. Firefighter Haney never recovered and died on April 26,1903.
Firefighter Haney was assigned to Hose Company #7.
