Incident

Captain Kraemer was the driver of Engine 10, responding to an alarm at Mellwood Avenue and Joseph Street in Crescent Hill. During the response, the wagon struck a rut in the road. Captain Kraemer was thrown between the horses and was struck by the wheels of the wagon. He died at the scene.

This occurred at Fire Alarm Box 48 known as the "Fatal 48".
