Incident

While fighting a fire in a five story building at 312-314 Chestnut Street, the building collapsed resulting in the death of Firefighter Westenhoff. The building housed the American Tent and Awning Company. The collapse also took the lives of Firefighters Daniel Steele, Frank McBride, Charles Krenning, Michael Kehoe, William Dundon, and Assistant Chief August Thierry.
