Firefighter Timothy O'Sullivan
Left by KDalton on Sunday, April 8th, 2018

In 1886, Timothy entered the KCFD when he was 19 yrs old. He worked for the KCFD for 33 years. In 1919, at the age of 52 years, he died tragically of multiple injuries while on duty as an steam engine driver for Engine Company #5. Per the KCFD Annual report, while returning from a fire alarm at 11th & Walnut, Tim was accidentally jolted from his seat on the steamer and 'the wheel of the steamer passed over his body resulting in almost instant death'. His daughter, Teresa O'Sullivan O'Connor, kept the only known picture of Tim in a locket that she always wore & would tell his story to us children over the years. It is in both their memories that I submit this tribute.
