Several hours after responding to two FIRE/EMS calls, Lieutenant Buchanan was involved in a motor vehicle collision with a school bus. It was later determined that he had suffered a fatal heart attack before the collision occurred.
Lieutenant Buchanan had recently been elected chairman of the board of his department.
