Incident
Guard Roger Harty was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver near the intersection of Angelica Street and Broadway.
The incident occurred when he approached the streetcar tracks, the driver of a large vehicle ran him down. Despite there being several witnesses, no one was able to describe the vehicle and no suspects were ever apprehended.
In addition to his law enforcement service Guard Harty was a veteran of the Spanish-American War.
