Detective Sergeant Mialbach succumbed to gunshot wounds sustained two days earlier while transporting prisoners.
Sergeant Mialbach along with two civilian volunteers were transporting three prisoners to the police station. One of the prisoners pulled a gun from underneath his hat and shot Sergeant Mialbach in the face. The prisoner then shot and killed the two volunteers before fleeing.
The man was arrested three days later at his place of work.
