Incident
Sergeant Watts was responding to a report of a residential fire when his police motorcycle was struck by another vehicle. He was not dispatched to the scene, however, he was nearby and responding with lights and sirens when a driver made a U-turn in front of him, causing the collision. He was transported to Truman Medical Center where he later died.
Sergeant Watts was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
