Lieutenant Jonathon David Mullaney

Lieutenant Mullaney and Firefighter Whitby entered a dwelling with fire on the second floor. Firefighter Whitby became low on air and they left the area together to exit the structure. Apparently they became disoriented from a partial collapse of the second floor and ended up in the laundry room. The intensity of the fire and the lack of backup self-contained breathing apparatus hindered additional rescue attempts. They were removed from the structure by a mutual-aid company and later pronounced dead at the hospital.
