I never had the privilege of meeting you...I came into the world some 16 years after your sacrifice to this community in the prime of your life. Rest in peace knowing you are a grandfather, your siblings have grown well and raised families, and your mother was surrounded by love, affection, and adulation all her life. Your legacy and bravery live on in our line and you even have a great nephew in your honor and namesake. I truly wish I could have had the opportunity to meet you, Uncle Darryl, because I feel I would have amassed such qualities from you. Rest in peace and take care of Grandma for me. Your daughter and grandson are healthy and happy and living the dream in sunny Florida.
