Captain Gerald K. "Mac" McGowan

While responding to an apartment fire, Captain McGowan and the members of his engine company were involved in a motor vehicle accident. Their engine struck a utility pole and then struck a large tree with the seating position of Captain McGowan bearing the brunt of the collision. He was extricated and transported to a hospital where he later died. Captain McGowan was an honorable veteran of the Vietnam War earning three medals while serving in the U.S. Army.
