Chief Billy R. Jarvis

While responding to an emergency call of a downed power line, Chief Jarvis became ill and had difficulty breathing. His son, who was a Captain on the Fire Department and was in the vehicle with him, took over driving and rushed him to the closest hospital. Upon arrival there, Chief Jarvis went into cardiac arrest. He was resuscitated and transferred to the Pikeville Medical Center where he died of the apparent heart attack six days later.
