Patrolman Holzknecht died from injuries sustained when the police car he was riding in was struck by a Cream Top Dairy truck. He developed pleurisy two weeks after the incident and died approximately six weeks later.
Patrolman Holzknecht was a veteran of the Spanish-American War.
