Incident

Officer Rod Bradway was shot around 2:02 a.m. after responding to a possible domestic dispute at the Eagle Pointe Apartments located at 6700 Eagle Pointe Drive North in the city's northwest side.

Upon arrival officers heard a woman screaming for help from inside the apartment. Officers forced entry and a gun battle immediately ensued with a male subject inside the apartment. Officer Bradway was hit by gunfire, and was transported to Wishard Hospital, where he died from his injuries several hours later. The perpetrator was also shot and killed.

Officer Bradway was a firefighter and EMT with the Wayne Township Fire Department before joining IMPD. He was also a recent recipient of IMPD's Medal of Bravery.
